Donor Relations & Programming Associate, Performance Art Council

Performance Art Museum

The Donor Relations & Programming Associate at the Performance Art Museum plays a pivotal role in spearheading donor relations and programming for the museum’s donor group - the Performance Art Council. Duties include regular communication with Performance Art Council Co-Chairs and members and coordinating donor programming, including artist studio visits, museum and gallery tours, performance rehearsals, lunches, talk presentations, and other experiences for donors to learn and engage with performance art. This position also proactively identifies and engages new prospective donors for the group.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Organize monthly outings for the Performance Art Council that are engaging and informative; outings can include exhibition tours, museum and gallery visits, conversations with artists and performance scholars, rehearsals, and small commissions;

  • Serve as a primary liaison between the museum and the PAC Co-Chairs and council members; issue membership and contribution invoices, follow up with payment and acknowledgments;

  • Conceive donor engagement events such as dinners, performances, conversations, parties, and events that provide a vehicle for enhanced donor cultivation and stewardship;

  • Oversee a schedule of local and national travel events for the PAC and manage the programming and itinerary for such travel excursions;

  • Communicate with museum curators, artists, performance artists, scholars, and gallery employees to coordinate PAC outings and visits, including restaurants, bars, and experimental kitchens;

  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned.

  • Be an active participant in the performance art and visual art community; enjoy programming and coordinating events and experiences; thrive in adventure, exploration, and overcoming challenges; be an out-of-the-box thinker and planner;

  • Knowledge and experience with development and fundraising in the non-profit sector;

  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement individual cultivation strategies;

  • At least two years of experience in an art museum, arts-related organization, philanthropic organization, or institution of higher learning;

  • Demonstrated skill in communicating professionally and effectively with all levels of staff, donors, artists, and members of the public;

  • Willingness to work in a “hands-on” manner as part of a small team;

  • Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to write effective correspondence and solicitation materials;

  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
