Artist’s Studio is seeking an experienced painting studio assistant for a full time 5-day/week position.

This position reports to the Studio Manager in facilitating painting production. This includes preparation and planning around the artist’s practice.

This position is 5 days a week, Mon-Fri 9a-6p. Must be flexible to occasionally work outside of these hours when necessary.

Studio provides paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Health benefits are provided. 401K after one year.

Responsibilities

Studio tasks: working directly with artist, mixing paint and preparing materials, maintaining studio cleanliness and workflow, preparing surfaces
General tasks: handling and installing of artwork, maintaining studio materials inventory, basic documentation/editing/filing of images, basic woodworking/construction projects, communicating with vendors, basic building maintenance/cleaning

Requirements

Desired skills:

Painting experience required
Previous experience in a painting studio strongly desired
Art handling & installation experience preferred
Basic experience with photography, Apple products, Photoshop & Adobe Suite preferred
Knowledge of contemporary art and art history
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
Must live in Los Angeles, have a working car and a valid driver’s license

Desired attributes:

Positive attitude, teamwork oriented, detail oriented, good communication skills a must. Hard working, self-starter, and conscientious.
Must be able to handle change of pace, ie working independently and methodically as well as working towards pressing deadlines as part of a dynamic team.
